KARACHI: Cement and steel prices increased as manufacturers increased their cost of purchase.
New steel bar prices have been increased by Rs 5,000 per ton to Rs 128,500 in addition to a cumulative increase of Rs. 18,000 per ton over the past one month and a half.
Similarly, cement prices have also increased by 45 rupees to 625 rupees per 50 kg bag in the last two months.
Data released by the Association of All Pakistan Cement Manufacturers (APCMA) highlighted a 23 percent drop in domestic cement sales, while overall cement exports saw a 12 percent decline.
Also, the rise in steel and cement prices will negatively affect construction activities countrywide.
