Lahore: A ground breaking ceremony was performed by PM Imran Khan for the Ravi Riverfront Urban Development (RRUD) Project. The city will be made into a modern metropolitan city.

The inauguration took place at Kala Khatai a small area near Lahore. The PM expressed concern that the project is hopefully ambitious and its success will be difficult. The project may be tricky but the provisional government has been instructed to complete the project at all costs.

Moreover, 6 million trees are said to be planted. Interest is being shown from local and international investors alike for this megaproject.

PM Imran Khan also expressed concern that over population in the city has resulted in poor life conditions for the poor and has resulted in the mixing of drinking water, with sewage water. This has tarnished water resources and is become a health concern.

The government will develop basic infrastructure, while the city will be raised from the ground up through investment. Housing will be made affordable, along with education and IT centers. This will be Pakistan’s second planned green city.
