ISLAMABAD: Given the success of PM Imran Khan’s plan for a tax amnesty for the construction sector, the federal government is considering extending the scheme for a period of three to six months.
It turned out that the FBR (Federal Board of Revenue) was instructed by the Prime Minister’s office to prepare a draft presidential decree to expand the amnesty tax system.
According to the deadline, the scheme will expire on December 31, 2020.
To boost construction, the authorities have registered over 350 projects under the scheme with an estimated cost of Rs 140 billion.
Nevertheless, the final decision will be made if the IMF (International Monetary Fund) also approves this proposal.
