Karachi: Funds worth Rs. 10.5 billion have been allocated by the government for the rehabilitation of the Karachi Circular Railway (KCR) project, similar to the previously provisioned fund package to the Railways MainLine (ML)-1 project, a news source quoted.
The funds are to be spent in three phases:
- Upgrade and Rehabilitation of the KCR track (From Orangi to City Station)
- Project Development (Underpasses and Fly-overs construction)
- Granting the status of Rapid Mass Transit System to the Project
According to the concerned authorities, there are no major hurdles being faced by KCR rehabilitation. The project is aimed at introducing easy travel to the citizens.
