Islamabad: The Islamabad Ring Road project is expected to start in the first quarter of the next year 2021, as reported by a news source. The project was proposed a year ago when the related developments for the Rawalpindi Ring Road initiative were being completed.
The Ring Road will stretch to more than 50 kilometers in length, starting from Sangjani (the point where Rawalpindi Ring Road ends). After covering the whole of Islamabad, along the Margalla Avenue, heading all the way to Express Highway, the road will terminate at the site of the Radio Pakistan Building in Rawat (on GT Road), at the starting of Rawalpindi Ring Road.
The news source has further stated that the groundbreaking for the Islamabad Ring Road would be held in March 2021; while that for Rawalpindi will be performed in November 2020.
Both infrastructural projects will be developed by the participation of private partners who will be allowed to operate toll plazas on the two roads for a specified time period in return for their services.
