ISLAMABAD: According to a news source, Prime Minister Imran Khan will launch today the countrywide monsoon plantation drive in an effort to turn Pakistan green.
Further, the Prime Minister will plant a sapling at Fatima Jinnah Park in Sector F-9 Islamabad as a gesture to encourage the masses to fully participate in the tree plantation campaign.
The nationwide activity is taking place in the rainy season of monsoon tree plantation as part of the Ten Billion Tree Tsunami drive under the auspices of the Ministry of Climate Change. In the next few weeks, the Capital Development Authority (CDA) will plant nearly half a million trees across Islamabad.
Islamabad over the years has witnessed a massive reduction in tree cover, particularly in the last two decades.
However, the green graph gradually shows an upward trend after the government of Prime Minister Imran Khan carried out a massive tree plantation campaign under the Clean and Green Pakistan Initiative.
In his tweets on different occasions, the prime minister consistently motivative the people. Especially youth, to actively take part in the country’s biggest tree plantation campaign.
Green and Clean Pakistan Initiative
He also made references to the monsoon tree plantation drive in the country under his government’s ambitious Ten Billion Tree Tsunami project and Green and Clean Pakistan initiative.
“I want all Pakistanis, esp. (especially) our youth, to gear up for the biggest tree planting campaign in our history. We have a lot of catching up to do,” the prime minister had said in one of his previous posts on the popular social media platforms.
“And we will be gearing up this monsoon season for our plantation drive. The biggest in Pakistan’s history,” he further added in a related tweet.
In another past tweet, he had expressed his strong resolve to leave a clean and green Pakistan for future generations of the country.
The prime minister had also posted pictures and video clips of swaths of land in Matta Swat, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Bhakkar etc; converted into green chunks of land owing to the Ten Billion Tree Tsunami and Clean, Green Pakistan campaigns.
“The greening of Pakistan is meant for future generations,” he maintained in one of his July 20th Twitter posts.
