Groundbreaking Of 35km Margalla Highway Performed by PM

Islamabad: according to a news source, on Monday, the groundbreaking of 35KM Margalla Highway performed by Prime Minister Imran Khan. The Highway will reduce the travel time and also connect Rawalpindi Ring Road.

The Capital Development Authority (CDA) is carrying out the project in collaboration with Frontier Works Organization (FWO) and National Logistic Cell (NLC). Similarly, the work will start at Bhara Kahu Bypass to connect Murre Road with Margalla Highway, in the first phase.

The Prime Minister talked about climate change and said that the government was committed to making clean and green Pakistan. Moreover, he expressed concern and told that only 600 million trees were planted since the establishment of Pakistan. Further, he talked about the 80% ruthless cutting of Changa Manga and Kundian forests.

Moreover, he said that Pakistan is the second country after Egypt to face a water shortage. Also, he showed concerns that the country might face water scarcity in the coming years. Furthermore, the PM told that the Margalla Highway will reduce the traffic problems as the population of Islamabad is swelled by 1.5% in 20 years.

Similarly, he expressed that the Highway provides a smooth flow of traffic in Galiyat and will cause a tourist influx. On this occasion, the Interior Minister Sheikh Rasheed praised Imran Khan to be a true Pakistani and leading the Muslim World against Islamophobia.

“The Margalla Highway will link the Grand Trunk road with the Murree Road and traverse through the capitals’ north along the Margalla hills while also touching the Constitution Avenue”. Starting from Sangjani on G.T. Road, the road will link at Satra Meel at Murree Road. Moreover, to connect the Highway with Rawalpindi Ring Road, a change in the plan was made. The earlier plans were to connect it to Murree road at Bharakahu, a suburb of Islamabad.
